The lunch meeting on the grass is a painting completed by Edward Manet in 1863. It was briefly exhibited at the French Salon for the first time on May 15, 1863. It was re-exhibited the following year without a sideline scandal against the Salon. The public’s legacy was collected in 1906 and thanks to the donation of Sianna Morro Neraton. The brutality of this style, especially the juxtaposition of "ordinary" naked women, in front of the public, as well as two well-dressed men, caused aesthetic and moral scandals and painful criticism when exhibiting works in the salon. Manet did change the taste of the bourgeoisie participating in the exhibition and somehow killed mythical paintings. Therefore, this canvas can be regarded as the first works of modern painting.
