The girl’s pearl earrings are oil paintings by the Dutch Golden Age painter Johannes Vermeer. Over the centuries, it has appeared under various names. At the end of the 20th century, the girl was famous for her current title after engraving large pearl earrings. .

Since 1902, the work has been collected by the Moristes in The Hague and has become the subject of various literary works. In 2006, the Dutch public chose it as the most beautiful painting in the Netherlands.

This painting is an alien, the Dutch description of the "head" in the 17th century, and the head is not a portrait. It depicts a European girl wearing an exotic dress, oriental turban and improbable pearl earrings. In 2014, Dutch astrophysicist Vincent Icke questioned the material of the earrings and pointed out that due to the mirror reflection, pear shape and large size earrings, it looks more like polished tin than pearls.

The work is an oil on canvas, 44.5 cm high and 39 cm wide. Signed "IVMeer" but undated. It is estimated to be drawn around 1665.

After the latest restoration of the painting in 1994, the subtle color scheme and the intimacy of the girl gazing at the audience have been greatly enhanced. During the restoration process, it was discovered that today some of the dark background, which is somewhat variegated, was originally a deep enamel-like green. This effect is produced by applying a thin layer of clear paint on the black background that you see now. However, the two organic pigments of celadon, indigo blue and weld seam, have faded.
