Loop Hero feels like a whole new genre. When you board the Four Quarters table, you should see a lot of deck building and a lot of incremental mechanics. On top of that, there are plenty of roguelikes available. This is truly one of the most unique games we've seen in 2021, and it speaks volumes about the level of innovation in the indie space this year.

Of course, the story is an afterthought, but the gameplay is incredibly addictive. Expanding on the food metaphor above, finding the perfect combination of unlimited farm resources in a loop is like receiving cookies from your grandma on your birthday. Simple perfection.
