American Film Institute (AFI), founded in 1967, is an independent non-profit organization founded by the National Arts Foundation. The film is afi's list of the greatest romantic films of the century out of 400 nominations for American films, as an important part of the American Film Academy's "hundred years" series-- AFI's 100 Years.... Passions, a romantic comedy starring Cher and Nicholas Cage, is released in December 1987. It tells the story of an Italian woman in New York City who falls in love with her fiance's brother.
The film was not only well received, but also was shortlisted in six categories at the 60th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best supporting Actress. That night, it won three awards: best original Screenplay, Best Actress and Best supporting Actress.
