Toaplan was synonymous with great shooters at the time, creating games like Hellfire, Zero Wing, and Fire Shark. However, the 1988 vertical scrolling shooter Truxton is probably one of the best shooters released by Toaplan, and since it appears on this list, you can argue that it's also one of the best shooters on the Sega Genesis.

Truxton has some very solid gameplay and uses lots of color and some amazing effects when you use your screen to clear bombs.
