"The Six Million Dollar Man" is an American science fiction and action TV series that aired from 1973 to 1978. It is about former American astronaut Colonel Steve Austin played by Lee Majors . After the NASA test flight accident, due to the bionic implant, Austin rebuilt with superhuman strength, speed and vision, and was hired as a special agent by the fictitious US government agency OSI. The series is based on Martin Ceddin’s 1972 novel Cyborg, which is the work name of the series in the pre-production stage. After three TV pilot films aired in 1973, the "Six Million Dollar Man" TV series was broadcast on the ABC network as a regular series for five seasons from 1974 to 1978. Austin became a pop culture icon in the 1970s.
