"Strawberry Fields Forever" is a song by the British rock band The Beatles. This song was written by John Lennon and signed by the Lennon-McCartney composition. It was inspired by Lennon’s memories of playing in the garden of Strawberry Field, a Salvation Army orphanage on the outskirts of Liverpool, near Lennon’s childhood residence.
Strawberry Fields Forever is a song composed by John Lennon, and the Beatles for their 1967 album "Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band" recorded the first song. But the song was first released in February 1967, as one of the double singles, released with Paul McCartney's Penny Lane. These two songs are nostalgia for Liverpool, the hometown of the Beatles. Strawberry Fields Forever is a successful psychedelic rock and roll work, which was later covered by many artists. This song was later included in the American version of the Beatles album "Magical Mystery Tour". The John Lennon Memorial Area in Central Park, New York is named after this song.
John Lennon’s hometown of Liverpool, England, has a "Salvation Army Children's Home" station named Strawberry Farm. When Lennon was young, he often went to the strawberry farm with Pete Shotton, Nigel Walley, Ivan Vaughan and other partners. What Lennon was most excited about when he was a child was the children's party held at the strawberry farm every summer. Lennon's aunt Smith recalled that whenever the party band in the strawberry garden started to play, Lennon couldn't wait to yell, "Hurry up, auntie, we're going to be late!"
In November 1966, the Beatles began recording the song in their studio on Abbey Street. After five weeks and a total of 45 hours of recording, the band finally completed this great work. They tried three versions of recording and added early electronic sounds. During the recording process, everyone was responsible for more than one track: John Lennon was responsible for the lead singer, lead guitar and piano; Paul McCartney was responsible for the bass and timpani; George Harrison was responsible for the electric guitar and snare drums; Ringers Ringo Starr is responsible for drum kits and other percussion.
This song has a very obvious autobiographical style. Lennon missed the joy of childhood ignorance, so he sighed "living is easy with eyes closed". He recalled the arduous process "It’s getting hard to be someone but it all works out" when he was young. He complained about his married life "No one I think is in my tree." He doesn't know how to face his strange self, whether he is a genius or a lunatic "it must be high or low".
Although this song is a realistic place to describe, it has a strong magical atmosphere. The Beatles Records producer George Martin
said that when he heard the song for the first time, he felt that it was full of "hazy, relaxed and dreamy" feeling.
