King Kong is a 1976 American monster thriller, produced by Dino de Laurentiis and directed by John Guillermin. It is a remake of the 1933 classic movie of the same name. Starring as Jeff Bridges, Charles Godin and Jessica Lange, this is also Jessica Lange's first film work.

The remake of the script was written by Lorenzo Semple Jr. on the basis of the 1933 James Ashmore Creelman and Ruth Ross script, inspired by Merian C. Cooper and Edgar Hua Les.

During the screening process, King Kong was the fifth best-selling movie in 1977. Box Office Mojo announced that King Kong was the seventh best-selling movie in 1977.

This is the only movie in the King Kong series where the World Trade Center building is set instead of the Empire State Building.
