Buried treasure will always be generated near the center of the block. The game world is divided into parts that are not visible at the time of play. Fortunately, you can easily open block boundaries by pressing F3 + G, which will display all blocks.

As you approach X on the map, open the block boundary and find the center block of the block. Dig down until you reach the treasure chest and collect your rewards!
