Learning

Chinatown is an American noir film released in 1974, directed by Roman Polanski and starring Jack Nicholson, Fay Dunaway, and John Houston. Chinatown is widely regarded as one of the most important films in the history of American cinema and was selected as one of the top ten best films in the top ten genres of AFI.

The story happened in Los Angeles in 1937. Jack used to work as a police officer in Chinatown, but discovered that Chinatown is a place free from social and moral restraints, and criminal behaviors are unattended, so he resigned to work as a private credit agency to investigate the Peachy incident.

A woman who claimed to be Mrs. Mao Rui came to the credit agency and claimed that her husband had an affair. She didn't care how much she spent and only asked to find out who the woman was. He discovered that his husband Hollis was the chief engineer of the municipal government's water affairs department and was protested by local farmers for opposing the construction of the dam. Jack secretly tracked Hollis and discovered that he was investigating the drought in the suburbs all day, and then he obtained secret photos, which proved that there was a woman with Hollis.

Suddenly a woman calling herself Mrs. Mao Rui came to visit. This time it's the real Maure wife Evelyn. She accused Jack of investigating Hollis and told him that he had filed a lawsuit in court. The court soon came with a subpoena, and the sudden turn of events involved Jack in a thrilling adventure...
