Silmido’s director is Woo-Suk Kang?

It is a film adaptation based on the Silmi Island incident in South Korea and was released in 2003. The film strives to truly present the cruel training and heroic sacrifices of "Unit 684", breaking the production budget of the most distant location and the highest scene of Korean movies, costing 13 billion won in total.

On February 16, 2004, the Republic of Korea National Army admitted to this brutal case for the first time under the discussion boom and the pressure of public opinion caused by the film, and announced the list of trainees and related information.

The plot of the story describes a group of soldiers who are far from relatives and friends on a wild island, enduring mental and physical torture only to serve the country, but due to changes in the political environment, they eventually become innocent victims. The entire stage was shot on-site at Silmi Island and spanned three oceans and five continents according to the shooting needs. He traveled to the seascape photography studio of Malta Island in the Mediterranean Sea and the snowy mountains in New Zealand, setting a record for the longest distance in Korean film history.
