While the game and its sequel, Lego Harry Potter :5-7 Years, were based on the best-selling books and movies of all time, it didn't provide a quality gaming experience. I never understood why it looked so boring. There are almost no combat sequences and very little action in these games.

The game consists mainly of puzzles and trudging through Hogwarts to get to the next destination. Lego Harry Potter lacks energy and always feels like you're doing repetitive, boring work. You find yourself waiting for something to pick up the pace and provide you with some excitement, but it never really arrives. The whole game feels bogged down in boring level design and bland personifications of lovable characters.
