The Rockford Files is an American detective TV series starring James Garner. It was broadcast on the NBC network from September 13, 1974 to January 10, 1980, and has been united to this day. Garner portrays the supporting roles of Jim Rockford, a private investigator in Los Angeles, and Joseph Rockford, the father of Noah Berry Jr., who is nicknamed "Rocky." The show was created by Roy Huggins and Stephen J. Cannell. Hawkins created the TV show "Mavericks" starring Garner, and he wants to regain his magic in the "modern" detective scene. In 2002, "Rockford Archives" ranked 39th among the 50 greatest TV shows ever made by "TV Guide". The theme song was released as a single and ranked 10th on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 1975, which took two weeks. Post and Carpenter co-wrote the single called "Dixie Lullabye". The single stayed on the charts for 16 weeks and won the 1975 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Performance.
