The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is the 2013 sequel to Connecting the Past. It follows many of the same themes, characters and artistic design, world layout and narrative elements, as well as similar naming conventions. The premise of the game is that in order to save Hyrule, Link transforms himself into a 2D painting so that he can pass through the cracks of the real world and travel to another world.
In so doing, he will also save the kingdom of Lorur in the parallel world. The title is both figurative and literal: linking himself is the link between the two worlds, and creates the link between them.
